There is no obligation to enroll after the trial.

What if my child is shy or nervous?
That's completely normal.
Some children jump into their first class immediately, while others prefer to watch and become comfortable with the instructors and environment first.
We don't expect every child to react the same way.
Our goal is to help children experience small successes that gradually build confidence.

We normally have several instructors working with students, which allows beginners to receive instruction appropriate for their level.

Comfortable clothing that allows your child to move is fine for getting started. If you continue into our 6-week beginner program, a martial arts uniform is included.

Class Schedule
How often should my child attend karate?
Most students attend two classes per week.
Consistency is important because children improve by practicing skills repeatedly and building upon what they learned in previous classes.

Are there belt testing fees?
No. We do not charge belt testing fees.
We don't want an additional fee to become an obstacle to a student's progress.
When children are ready to advance, we want the focus to be on what they've learned, the effort they've put into training and what they've accomplished—not another fee.

Belts & Progress
How does my child earn the next belt?
Students advance by developing the skills, knowledge, attitude and experience expected at their level.
A belt should represent real progress and accomplishment.
Students don't purchase their next rank—they earn it.
How long does it take to earn a Black Belt?
There isn't one exact timeline that applies to every child.
Children progress differently depending on age, attendance, effort, experience and how consistently they train.
The important thing isn't rushing toward Black Belt. It's allowing students to experience the smaller accomplishments along the way—new techniques, stripes, belts and breakthroughs that show them:
“Yes I Can! "

Will karate help my child's confidence?
Building confidence is one of the major goals of our children's program. We don't simply tell children to “be confident.” We give them opportunities to accomplish difficult things. Learning a new technique, speaking in front of a group, earning a belt or succeeding at something that was difficult before gives children evidence that they're capable of improving.
Do you teach children to speak with confidence?
Yes. This is an important part of our program.
Students practice standing confidently, making eye contact, answering clearly and speaking loudly enough to be heard.
Our Leadership Program places even greater emphasis on communication, public speaking and leadership skills.

Choosing a Martial Arts School
What should parents look for in a karate school?
Don't choose a martial arts school based only on price or how close it is to your house.
Visit the school and watch a class.
Look at the instructors, how many instructors are working with students, how children are grouped, how beginners are treated and whether students appear engaged and comfortable.
You should also ask about tuition, contracts, uniforms, equipment, registration costs and belt testing fees before enrolling.
